David's reaction to the movie

I thought the movie was fascinating. Slowly but surely all of my preconceived notions about Scandinavia are being squashed. I found it to be very interesting that the vikings were farmers, but even more so that they had the skill to carve. The jewlery and craftsmanship that they created was remarkable. I thought they were just brutal killers, and people who took advantage of others. I was also interested by the way the vikings traveled. I had no idea that they had been to Ireland and Russia, I thought they really just stayed in the Scandinavian countries. I would have liked to learn about the viking women. What role they played? what they did when their husbands went off to pillage? etc.
