Movie Post

I'm not going to lie when I say that I was completely uninterested in watching this movie. It started out slow and confusing, but quickly picked up into a pretty suspenseful film. I am still shocked that they showed the rape/murder scene. I definitely was not expecting that. Overall, I think this movie is very good and I can't wait to see what happens next.

  1. I agree that it was slow and confusing in the beginning as well. I was interested once the movie started picking up when Ingeri and Karin left for the forest, but once I could see the rape/killing seen coming, I was really uncomfortable.

I wasn't too interested in seeing the rape/killing seen unfold, but I suppose that is the point of the movie--to push ideas to thought that people aren't comfortable with. Considering the movie was made in the 1960's, Bergman was definitely pushing boundaries with "acceptability" in the film industry.

If it makes a cosmopolitan 20 year old university student uncomfortable in 2011, imagine what it did to social conservatives in the 1960's!
